Tom Kwiatkowski, Owner and President

tomk@wlkg.com • 262-249-9600 x110

Tom grew up on the South Side of Chicago, attending St. Rita High School, then Chicago Teachers' College (now Chicago State University) and received his Masters degree from Loyola University of Chicago.

He taught 5th grade in Chicago from 1968-1970, moving to Lake Geneva upon marriage to the former Barbara Polek in 1970. He then taught in Lake Geneva until 1974, when he became an elementary principal in the Lake Geneva School System. He remained in that position until starting WLKG-FM in 1994, after a lenghty and expensive process with the Federal Communications Commission.

In 1997, Tom purchased WMJB-FM in Janesville, Wisconsin. He changed the call letters to WKPO-FM and installed an urban rhythmic format that was an instant sensation. He sold WKPO-FM in 2000.

Tom has served on many boards and has been a member of a variety of organizations. He has been affiliated with the Geneva Lake Water Safety Patrol for 45 years and has been a public speaker since starting WLKG-FM in 1994.

Tom and his wife Barbara reside in Lake Geneva and have three married daughters and five grandchildren.

Ty and Nancy have four grown children, and two grandchildren, Julie and Logan.

Nancy is a member and past President of the Geneva Lake Women's Association, and also serves on the board for the Wisconsin Broadcaster's Association.

If Nancy had any spare time, she would enjoy it immensely!

Dave Michaels, Program Director

dave@lake961.com • 262-249-9600 x105
On-Air Personality weekdays from 6am - 9am

Franklin, Wisconsin, native Dave Michaels has entertained Lake 96-1 listeners for over a eight years after working around the state including Green Bay, Rhinelander and Milwaukee. This University of Wisconsin Whitewater alum claims he was attracted to a career in radio mostly because of the flashy, form-fitting uniforms! He spent a good portion of his childhood in a small, dark room tape-recording music and sports broadcasts, journaling song charts, and mimicking announcers. A little bit sad, yes, but he feels that it has paid off. Dave likes to spend time with the most important people in his life... his wife Angela, family, friends, and the guy making the burritos at Chipotle.

Mandy James, On-Air Personality weekdays 10am-2pm

mandy@lake961.com

Hi, I'm Mandy! Born and raised in Minnesota; here via Iowa! I have officially called all "enemy territory" home! I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband and son who you will often hear me mention from time to time with Dave every weekday morning; I can't wait for them to join me here in Lake Geneva! To keep me busy, I endulge in re-runs of "Sex and the City", Criminal Minds marathons and late night viewings of American Horror Story! When I'm not in front of the TV, I punish myself with long sessions at the gym, take short naps and eat Dorito Locos Tacos from Taco Bell. I am so excited to learn more about you and everything that Walworth County has to offer! Questions, comments or concerns? (that's an inside joke; you'll get it soon!)

Melissa Jordan, Assistant Program Director

On-Air Personality weekdays 2pm-7pm

melissa@lake961.com

Melissa, aka "Hot Sauce," moved to Wisconsin from the mitten, the REAL mitten, Michigan two years ago. She met her husband John at Central Michigan University.  She and the hubs, got married this past Cinco de Mayo. Tequila shots anyone? Total joke. She loves radio for a bunch of reasons.  Music all day? Perfect. Involved in community events? Love it. Wear whatever she wants to work? How about a pink jumpsuit today. And hey, they even encourage Facebook use. She joined Lake 96.1 in May of 2012 and has already picked up the nicknames of MJ, Big Mel, Hot Sauce, and a few we better keep to ourselves. The owner Tom is still shocked she keeps coming back. And uses the joke regularly.

Jim became addicted to radio in the 1970's when he would visit oldies radio stations as a North Shore teenager attending Loyola Academy and listening to Top 40 Chicago radio on the AM radio of his 1967 Mustang. By his senior year of college at Notre Dame, Jim was broadcasting news and hosting public affairs shows on three radio stations, and running a studio camera at the NBC television station. He spent most of the 80's as a t.v. news reporter in Wisconsin, Indiana and Virginia.
After success in the business world as a technology public relations executive, Jim returned to broadcasting in 2003 at WBIG-AM in Aurora, Illinois as a morning and public affairs host/advertising executive and then headed to Anchorage, Alaska's KTVA-TV CBS 11 as a Reporter/Anchor and a military correspondent for the Armed Forces' Pentagon Channel. Jim loves living in Lake Geneva and all things nautical as a former Marine and current officer in the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps.
